Bars and Melody drop 'Waiting For The Sun' with live Vevo performance

“People aren’t going to expect what’s coming.”

That’s what Charlie Lenehan, one half of Bars and Melody, told CelebMix last year as the duo continued work on their upcoming album, Choke. “Diverse, different and unexpected” are the three words the singer chose to label the album which he spoke of as the band at their most authentic as artists.

Today, they release ‘Waiting For The Sun’. “I don’t know why, we’ve been holding tight, life’s been passing us by”, Lenehan layers over the track’s EDM-influenced chorus.

It’s another track building upon the Bars and Melody sound that saw the youngsters through the first records, in an evolution that follows March’s ‘Love To See Me Fail‘ and last year’s ‘Put Ü First’. And, dare we say it, ‘Waiting For The Sun’ could just well be the duo’s best effort yet.

“A lot of artists are big now of days because they are so in people’s faces and they just fall in love with them and not their music,” Lenehan told CelebMix last year. “That’s not the vibe me and Leo are going for. We’re musicians, we are artists.” As the tracks keep rolling in, it’s a clear mentality as Lenehan and partner Leondre Devries leap from teenage idols to full-blooded artists.

Treating Vevo to a live performance, they join the likes of SG Lewis, Lewis Capaldi, Sigala and Sigrid as artists who have been invited to showcase their tracks on the platform. The duo also played their tongue-in-cheek single ‘Love to See Me Fail’ on Vevo, with the video premiering yesterday (July 26)..

‘Waiting for the Sun’ is available to download and stream now.
